I think we can see 2 of the main problems of Russian armored forces :
First they often operate alone, without any cover, which is a literal death trap, especially with portable rocket launchers such as javelins and NLAWS in the hands of the enemy.
Secondly, and this is not often talked about, to make their tank quite smaller than western counterparts, they have a really tiny transmission, which severely impact the backward speed. An average Russian tank will go at a maximum of 15-17kph in reverse, while others such as the Type 10 (Japan), the leclerc (France) and K2(South corea) can go 30 or even 40kph in reverse, and thus exiting a dangerous area without exposing the back of the tank, which is the most vulnerable side of the tank appart from the top.

If Ukraine is loosing about 100-200 soilders a day that's about 1400 a week. Not sustainable and I think Putin knows it.
This is a plan Russia has mulled over not someone got a brain fart. A plan poorly executed thank God. Ukraine needs a fast victory, can you see NATO spending another 1.? Trillion dollars on another Afghanistan.
Unless Russia looses interests in Ukraine or a big disaster in Russia has to move Putins focus I can't see Ukraine holding out for more than 2 years.
